The usual costs
- Deposit: usually agreed as one or two months of rent, returned at the end of the lease if nothing is damaged.
- Advance rent: normally the first month of rent, paid when you sign.
- Agent fee: ask before you sign who pays, which usually follows who engaged the agent.
- Utilities and internet: check whether they are included in the rent.
Check before you pay
- The contract states the deposit amount, the conditions for returning it and the deadline.
- View the home and check who you are dealing with before you pay.
- Pay only to the account named in the contract. Never pay a personal account or scan a code.
- Keep the transfer records and receipts.
At the end of the lease
Inspect the home with the owner and compare it with the photos you took at move-in. Write down any disagreement and sign it together.
